Degassing Towers

Remove carbon dioxide and accumulated gases through structured air-water contact.

Degassing towers create air-water contact to remove carbon dioxide and other dissolved gases that can accumulate in intensive recirculating systems. Marine Blue supplies and integrates tower configurations suited to the project process and hydraulic arrangement.

01

Operating principle

Water is distributed over packing or another contact surface while air moves through the tower. The expanded interface promotes transfer of dissolved gases from water to air.

02

Role in the system

Degassing protects culture and treatment processes from gas accumulation and complements oxygenation. Adding oxygen alone does not necessarily remove carbon dioxide; the gas balance must be considered separately.

03

Applications

  • Fish and shrimp RAS
  • High-feed or high-biomass systems
  • Hatchery and nursery treatment
  • Live holding and broodstock systems
  • Post-biofilter gas management

04

Integration requirements

Coordinate the tower with biofilter discharge, water distribution, blower or ventilation, pumps, drainage, oxygenation, building humidity control and monitoring.

05

Operation and maintenance

Inspect distribution nozzles, packing, fouling, airflow, drains, supports and access. Cleaning frequency depends on water quality and biological growth.

06

Customer value

Effective degassing can reduce carbon-dioxide accumulation and support more stable gas conditions in intensive systems. Final sizing requires project load and water data.
